training

My plan for the summer is to go climbing and hiking in Les Ecrins, France. And since I have been more than lazy regarding training for the last year or so, I have initiated a training programme to make me fit for the climbs.

I have put some of the photos from this summer online.

I have bought myself a pair of squeezers to train my hands and arms, and I train my stamina by running once or twice a week. I will do an effort to update this page with my achievements, most of all for my own sake, but also for my father to see that I progress.

In week 11 I have been walking the dog every day: Half an hour every morning and approx. every second day we have been for a long walk of 45-75 mins in the woods or in the neighbourhood.

05-05-2002 1h 10 mins Round the field north of the station Even the day after a late night out it was no problem to run a long trip.
02-05-2002 45 mins Round Lyngby Lake, approx. 6 km Very flat run with a nice view.
27-04-2002 20 mins A longer trip round the pond. I need to start my training again.
14-04-2002 1h 15 mins To the highest hill in the neigbourhood, a tourist attraction indeed Even though the duration was the same as 24-03 this run was much harder because I ran cross-country and up the hill.

07-04-2002 55 mins Round trip: to Taastrup, under the railway and back It has been a while since my last run because I have been hung up with the report for my Diploma Project.
24-03-2002 1h 15 mins Round the field North of the station. A steady trot all the way. This is the same route that I ran 17-02-02.
19-03-2002 <20 mins Round the local pond Now it takes just under 20 minutes to run round the pond. I ran very fast for the first half and then slowed down for the second half.
12-03-2002 35 mins A run with the dog in the woods around Frederiksdal I ran a slow jog so I would not exhaust the dog. When the dog wanted to examine something I ran on the spot and did some exercises.
10-03-2002 40 mins A run in the woods around Frederiksdal I can feel I run much faster now and after 40 minutes of running I still had energy. That is a good sign.
05-03-2002 20 mins Round the local pond Twenty minutes of fast run with a one minute walking break after 10 minutes - and afterwards some exercises for my arms.
03-03-2002 45 mins Round trip: to Taastrup, under the railway and back I'm feeling fit now, I ran non-stop. But it was a bit too hot when the sun came out.
23-02-2002 1h 13 mins Through the woods to Kulhus and back. About 9 km Running through 20 cm snow was a tough exercise. I managed to pull through but strained my anckle in doing so.
19-02-2002 20 mins Round the local pond I ran non-stop but a bit too fast. I was panting when I was at my door again.
17-02-2002 1h 15 mins Round a field North of the station. About eight kilometres. My first long run was a bit too long. I had to walk and run in shifts, though being careful to keep my pulse up.
