Aaaargh!

I want a digital camera!
I curse myself, my camera and the great weather we had in Norway! All but a few of my pictures from Norway are underexposed! Even though I think this year I have made some of my best shots as far as motifs and composition is concerned, I cannot use any of the pictures without postprocessing to increase contrast, fix colour tones and so on. AAAaaargh!

As soon as I can afford it, I will buy a digital SLR.

Carnaval in Nijmegen

On a grey Sunday afternoon a sudden burst of colours and music brought the town to life. The annual carnaval parade on February 26th drove, danced and sang through Nijmegen.

Returned from Norway

Excellent trip to Norway with my family again this year. We had high sunshine and frost all week except for the very last day when thaw and even rain showers chased us back from the mountains and into the bus going home. After our week in Norway I spent five days at home in Denmark to relax a bit and show my face at my home university.

The photo is from last year - the many new photos I took this year will be back from development some time this week.

I am a non-smoker

I do not try to convert smokers to non-smokers, but I really appreciate a smoke-free environment in my daily life. So please, if you are a smoker, respect the well-being and health of your non-smoking peers and do not smoke in common areas indoors. Thank you.

What the BLEEP?

I saw a very special movie today: What the Bleep do we know!? It is neither pure documentary or pure fiction, but a series of interviews with a mixture of prominent professors in quantum physics and neurology, philosophers and spiritual teachers. Each of them trying to describe the link between the physical world and the individual experience of the world. They all agree there is still a missing link, and they present their opinion on what the current science should tell us about consciousness, freedom of choice, the problematic idea of an omnipresent deity, and how we can influence our own lives by thinking differently.

The topics of the interviews follow a simultaneous story of a photographer who reconsiders the contents of her life and her own reactions. Unfortunately, this story takes up precious time from the interviews to go into depth with the scientific ideas, so the producers decided to make a sequel, 2½ hours featuring new interviews and less sidestory.

I liked the movie as food for thought especially the part discussing consciousness, but not all interviewees were clear about their viewpoints, and I missed a great deal of explanation on the scientific side, so I will try to find a chance to watch the sequel.
