Spa spa spa

Mud, mud, glorious mud! We (Joanna and I) got a mud treatment, while Urzsula and Isabel had a face treatment and a hand massage. What luxury creatures we are. This day at the spa was our birthday present for Joanna, and I am happy that we all came along to keep her company and enjoy the mud too. :o)

Tough guy marathon

Joanna mentioned the Tough Guy marathon as one of the races that are a level more difficult than just walking 50km a day for four days in a row (in case you do not know it, I am referring to the Vierdaagse in Nijmegen). From the video on this website, I see her point. It is an extreme form of obstacle race, where you see the participants fighting to help themselves and eachother through mud, fire and ice cold water. Indeed if you complete this race you can call yourself a 'tough guy' and maybe even more so if you managed with no injuries...

Encounter in the dark

I got an unexpected visit from two friends (Allantech and Graffen) from Denmark. They informed me only last week that they would visit me this week from Tuesday to Thursday. What a pleasant surprise! I took the day of Wednesday, and we went sightseeing in Nijmegen.
One of the most interesting sights was not a sight at all: we went to the MuZIEuM to experience what it is like to be completely blind. Guided by Bart, we walked through an office, a back yard, a park, a marketplace and a cafe in complete darkness. Our only aids were our canes and the comforting voice and support of Bart. The experience 'opens your eyes' for another way of 'viewing the world', namely with your hearing, your sense of smell and subtle differences in touch and feel of things. I can really recommend this museum for future tourists in Nijmegen.

Visit the MuZIEuM online.

The gallery is now updated with my photos from New York.

Please comment on this post if you ever saw this sketch (in red on the right) in other cities than NY or Nijmegen... just curious...

Carnaval is over

This year I did not go downtown to watch the parade, but it was impossible not to notice the silly costumes and decorated vehicles cruising the streets for the last couple of days. Last year I took a series of photographs from the parade which you can view in the glyn.dk/gallery.
